About This Provider
Dr. David Skarin has practiced orthodontics exclusively for 37 years, building a reputation in Naperville and Yorkville on something most orthodontic offices have abandoned: doing every part of treatment himself. A Northwestern University-trained orthodontist, Dr. Skarin earned his DDS in 1978 and completed his Master's degree and orthodontic specialty certificate at Northwestern in 1980. He later returned as a clinical instructor, training orthodontic residents there for thirteen years. His understanding of patient comfort is personal. Dr. Skarin wore braces for six years as a teenager, an experience that directly shaped his treatment design philosophy and his focus on minimizing discomfort at every stage. Patients and longtime reviewers describe him as a visionary who researches and develops new appliance designs and makes sure everything is perfectly aligned. He places every bracket, makes every adjustment, changes every wire, and fabricates every retainer by hand. There are no associates and no chairside assistants. A member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the Midwestern Society of Orthodontists, and the Illinois Society of Orthodontists, Dr. Skarin brings a depth of clinical engagement that defines what solo specialty practice can look like when quality takes priority over volume.
