Dr. Derek Cheng is the founder and owner of Cheng Orthodontics in Rockford, Illinois, where he has practiced orthodontics for more than 25 years. He graduated in the top 3 percent of his class at Temple University School of Dentistry before earning his Master of Science in Orthodontics from Marquette University, one of the top clinical orthodontic programs in the United States. Recognizing that bite mechanics extend beyond tooth alignment, Dr. Cheng then completed an additional two-year post-specialty program through the Roth-Williams Center, focused on temporomandibular joint relationships and functional occlusion, giving him a deeper framework for planning treatment that supports long-term jaw health. He is a board-certified diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, a distinction held by only a handful of orthodontists in the Rockford area.
