Dr. Felipe Porto brings a rare combination of dual board certifications to West Michigan. He is board certified in both Orthodontics and Orofacial Pain. Born and raised in Brazil, Dr. Porto completed two separate orthodontic residencies, one in Brazil and one at the Medical University of South Carolina, plus a dedicated residency in Orofacial Pain and Temporomandibular Disorders at the University of Kentucky. His academic career includes teaching positions at the University of Connecticut, where he earned three teaching awards, the Medical University of South Carolina, and a Military Hospital in Recife, Brazil. He has been invited to lecture at more than 100 events across the United States and internationally, and has published research in both orthodontics and orofacial pain. Dr. Porto treats not just misaligned teeth but also patients suffering from jaw pain, TMJ disorders, and sleep disturbances, conditions that most orthodontists are not trained to address. He is fluent in English and Portuguese and holds himself to a simple standard he learned from his father: be the best you can be.
