He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Stanford University and his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Maryland, Baltimore College of Dental Surgery. Dr. Guthrie completed a General Practice Residency at the Veterans Medical Center in Washington, D.C., followed by a surgical residency at Howard University Medical Center, where he was recognized as Chief Resident and received the Thomas J. Pinson Award for Surgical Excellence and Outstanding Academic Achievement. He is certified and licensed by the State of Illinois as an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Specialist and holds Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification from the American Heart Association. A past president of the Chicago Dental Society, Kenwood Hyde Park Branch, and a founding member of the Legacy Foundation committed to global health, Dr. Guthrie brings institutional leadership and community-level commitment alongside his clinical work.
