Born in Lubsko, Poland, she immigrated to the United States at age 15 and graduated from high school in Alton, Illinois, building deep roots in the Metro East community from the start. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from SIUE, then completed her Doctorate of Dental Medicine at SIU School of Dental Medicine in Alton.
