Dr. Susan A. Rowan, DDS, MS, FACD, FICD, serves as Dean of the University of Illinois Chicago College of Dentistry, a position she assumed formally on April 16, 2024 after leading the college as interim dean since 2022. Her path to the deanship reflects deep institutional knowledge: she previously served as executive associate dean and associate dean for clinical affairs, positions that gave her direct oversight of both academic programming and clinical operations. Dr. Rowan holds fellowships in both the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists, selective honors reserved for dentists who demonstrate distinguished service to the profession and to the public. Under her leadership, the UIC College of Dentistry has expanded community access through the Pilsen Center for Oral Health Promotion, launched the Inclusive Care Clinic for patients with special health care needs, and created the Dental Assisting Pathway Program to address Illinois workforce shortages.
