Dr. Peter O. Cabrera is the founder of Perio Implant Chicago and a board-recognized specialist in periodontics. A native of Havana, Cuba, he earned his Bachelor of Arts from Northwestern University, completed his dental training at the University of Illinois Dental School, and received his specialty certification in periodontics from Northwestern University Dental School. Throughout his career, Dr. Cabrera developed novel surgical approaches in periodontics and published research in the Journal of the American Dental Association, The Canadian Dental Journal, and The Chicago Dental Society Review. His article on connective tissue grafting was among the first written to explain gum grafting procedures in plain language for patients rather than dental professionals, a hallmark of his commitment to patient education. He served as President of both the Illinois Society of Periodontists and the Midwest Society of Periodontology and holds affiliate staff status in the Department of Surgery at Lurie Children's Hospital.
