What the Total Cost Includes
The All-on-4 treatment price typically includes the initial consultation and treatment planning, diagnostic imaging (CBCT scan and panoramic X-ray), surgical placement of four implant posts, a temporary (immediate-load) prosthesis placed on the day of surgery, healing period follow-up visits, and the final permanent prosthesis. Some practices bundle all of these into a single fee, while others bill components separately.
When comparing quotes from different providers, ask for a detailed breakdown of what is included. A lower total price may exclude items like imaging, sedation, or the temporary prosthesis that other providers include in their quote.
Final Prosthesis Options and Costs
The final prosthesis is the largest single cost component and varies significantly by material. An acrylic prosthesis costs $3,000 to $6,000 per arch. It is the most affordable option but may need replacement every 5 to 10 years. A hybrid prosthesis (acrylic teeth on a metal framework) costs $5,000 to $10,000 per arch and offers improved durability. A full zirconia prosthesis costs $8,000 to $15,000 per arch and is the most durable and natural-looking option, potentially lasting 20 years or more.
The prosthesis material affects both the upfront cost and the long-term value. A zirconia prosthesis costs more initially but may save money over time by avoiding the replacement costs of less durable materials.
Additional Costs Beyond the Base Price
Several additional procedures may add to your total cost. Extraction of remaining teeth costs $75 to $300 per tooth (or $1,000 to $3,000 for a full mouth of extractions). Bone grafting, if needed, adds $500 to $3,000 per site. IV sedation or general anesthesia adds $500 to $2,000. The temporary prosthesis (if not included in the base price) costs $1,500 to $3,000.
Most All-on-4 patients need extractions. Whether bone grafting is required depends on your bone volume, which is one of the advantages of the All-on-4 technique: the angled implants often work with existing bone and reduce the need for grafting.
Financing All-on-4 Implants
Given the significant cost, most All-on-4 providers offer financing options. In-office payment plans may spread the cost over 12 to 60 months. Third-party financing through CareCredit or similar companies offers promotional 0% interest periods. Some practices partner with specific lenders for extended payment terms.
Insurance may cover a portion of the cost. While most plans do not cover implants, they may cover the extraction of failing teeth, diagnostic imaging, and a portion of the prosthesis (classified as a denture). This can offset $1,000 to $3,000 of the total cost. Ask your provider's billing department to submit a pre-authorization to your insurance.
